Reinke Holds 2nd Annual Summer Weld Program
(DESHLER, Neb. – July 18, 2024) Reinke Manufacturing Co., Inc, takes pride in being the world's largest privately owned producer of center pivot and lateral move irrigation systems. Reinke is committed to fostering the next generation of skilled professionals through their innovative educational programs which were developed in collaboration with high schools and secondary schools. Reinke is building a future where technical and industrial skills thrive.
Reinke President, Chris Roth said, “We are excited to continue growing the outreach programs that we have at the elementary, junior high, high schools and college levels. The kids are really interested in learning about trades, which is evident since our summer welding program doubled in size from last year.”
Chuck Hatzenbuehler, an American Welding Society (AWS) certified welding inspector and educator, who is employed by Reinke, also teaches a welding course at Deshler Public Schools during the school year. The curriculum offered is built around the AWS standards. Gas metal arc welding, spray transfer and oxygen-fuel cutting were taught during this course. “The students will weld and cut on a variety of material thicknesses, flat and horizontal positions, and will have the opportunity to earn an AWS welder qualification. Individuals who have basic weld training can use those skills in manufacturing, farm and ranch, construction, general fabrication and general repairs,” said Hatzenbuehler.
Participating schools include Deshler, Fairbury, Heartland Lutheran, Lawrence-Nelson, Meridian, Red Cloud, Sandy Creek, and Thayer Central. Students who successfully pass the class will be awarded $500. Roth stated “It is very important to Reinke to invest in our youth. We volunteer hundreds of hours per year supporting and teaching classes, starting at the elementary schools, all the way through college. You could say it is part of our DNA; who we are.”
