Reinke Continues Support of the Thayer County K-9 Initiative to Fight Crime
(DESHLER, Neb.) – Reinke Manufacturing once again donates $5,000 to the Thayer County Sheriff’s Department. The funds will be used for a K-9 dog dedicated to criminal and drug interdiction. This marks the second time that Reinke has generously supported this vital initiative.
Sheriff David Lee explained that the decision to acquire another K-9 dog stems from increased drug activity in the region. Highways 81 & 136, which are heavily traveled, have become prime routes for drug traffickers due to the sparse law enforcement presence in rural areas compared to urban centers.
The new K-9 dog, sourced from Poland, was selected by a vendor based in Texas who carefully chooses dogs based on their temperament and background to ensure they are well-suited for law enforcement duties.
Sheriff Lee expressed his enthusiasm for the addition of the K-9 dog to Thayer County, emphasizing its significant impact on combating drug-related crimes. "Drugs are more prevalent in our area than most realize. With our K-9 team, we are better equipped to address this issue and assist neighboring towns in need," he stated.
Community members interested in supporting the K-9 program are encouraged to donate. Help Thayer County take a “bite” out of crime. For more information on how to support this initiative, please contact the Thayer County Sheriff’s Department at 402-768-6139 for more information.
